‘Drawing makes you see things clearer, and clearer and clearer still…’ David Hockney
‘Drawing… brings together man and the world. It lives through magic.’ Keith Haring
From Da Vinci and Durer to Gehry and Gormley, invention, discovery and understanding begin with drawing. As children, when we pick up a crayon and draw, we discover a liberating and potent way to describe the world around us. Drawing is our first language with which we communicate our fantasies, our loves and fears, but over the years, something happens to persuade most of us that it is no longer of any value and we cease to make room for it in our lives.
This informal course will teach you how to visually assess your subject, measure, use proportion, work with tone and get to grips with the art you always wanted to make… but more importantly, it will open your eyes to the world around you.
Ideal for beginners, those who feel a little rusty or are lacking in confidence and for anyone who wants to paint, illustrate or make their own designs.
