Description
Claverton Art Group meet regularly throughout the year at Claverton Down Community Hall near Bath, where David has had the pleasure and privilege of teaching and mentoring at their lively and informal gatherings for more than a decade!
Morning sessions are devoted to watercolour and run the gamut from classic English landscape technique to contemporary styles, including abstraction and collage. Subjects include elements of landscape (trees and skies etc.) the human figure, still-life, perspective, proportion and composition. There is also a strong art historical element with frequent visual references to exemplary watercolourists past and present.
Afternoon sessions are given over to work in acrylic and students are encouraged to experiment and take their art in new directions. Traditional concepts are also embraced and taught, including colour-mixing and theory, tonality, underpainting and composition. Once again, there is a strong art historical element with visual references to significant artists from every century and movement.
